He stunned fans when he swapped his artfully-styled crop for an edgy shaved new 'do.
And now One Direction's Liam Payne has opened up about the reasons behind his trendy new look.
But while it had been rumoured that Liam's recent split from long-term girlfriend Danielle Peazer could have been behind the restyle, the 18-year-old revealed a much less thought-about reason for the crop.

Asked why he had changed his hair, Liam said: 'I just fancied it for the day, I dunno!'
And clearly the style is still a novelty with Liam's One Direction bandmate, with Zayn cheekily ruffling the newly-shorn locks.
Liam showed off his new look as he appeared alongside the rest of the boys on Daybreak on Friday morning to promote their new single Live While We're Young.

The boys also spoke about their now infamous 'Deadly day', the infamous day of the month when the 1D boys cause mayhem.
Louis Tomlinson said of the occasion: 'We originally did make it the 22nd of every month as one day where it’s kind of more acceptable for us to be, I don’t know, just be stupid and run away from everyone really.'
It has been reported last month that Liam's new look was down to his split from Danielle.
The couple had been dating for two years after first meeting when One Direction were competing on The X Factor back in 2010, but called it a day after their respective work commitments meant they hardly ever saw each other.

A source said at the time: 'They have split in the last few days because it has been more and more difficult to keep the relationship going with Liam spending more and more time away.
'He has hardly been able to see Danielle in recent months and the band have a world tour next year so it was only going to get harder.'
Despite calling time on their romance, the pair are said to have ended things amicably.
Liam and Danielle were most recently seen together at the 19-year-old singer's birthday party late last month, with the pair looking utterly smitten as they arrived at London's Funky Buddha nightclub hand in hand.
The teen heartthrob now joins fellow single One Directioners Niall Horan and Harry Styles.
Meanwhile, Zayn Malik is dating Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards, and Louis Tomlinson is in a long-term relationship with Manchester University student and model Eleanor Calder.
